Northwest 53rd Street, between Columbia and Gore

City of Lawton Engineering reports that Northwest 53rd Street, between Columbia Avenue and Gore Boulevard, will be closed to through traffic for approximately two months beginning April 3rd, 2018, as storm drain installment is carried out. This installment is part of the voter-approved 52nd Street Project.

Please be advised that closure length can vary due to weather and site conditions. Please be advised that there will be one-lane traffic for both east- and westbound drivers in the adjacent area of Gore Boulevard during the last week of this closure.

Relevant changes to this project schedule will be communicated to the public from the City of Lawton as the information is received.

The project contractor has agreed to keep one drive to Fire Station No. 5 open at all times so that this station can remain operational during drain installment. Operations and response from Station 5 will continue during this time.

Detours for area drivers will be placed accordingly. Area residents will be kept abreast of immediate project plans by contractors and field representatives.

Thank you for your patience and support of this project. It is set for completion by January 2019.
