The City of Lawton will enter the construction phase of the Lawtonka Gate Rehabilitation Project during the last week of May 2018 and wishes to make the community aware.

In the next several days, equipment and cranes will be placed in the area. The dam and spillway will then be closed to the public as a safety precaution. The purpose of the rehabilitation project is to resolve mechanical issues and replace leaky seals. This is a $2.2 million voter-approved project funded by 2016 CIP dollars and FEMA that will be carried out throughout the next several months. Work is expected to be complete by late November.

Any relevant information and updates on this project will be made available to the public via and the traditional Press. Inquiries may also be directed through the Water/Wastewater Director Afsaneh Jabbar at 580.581.3410.
