To provide supervision activities at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Monitors workflow, reviews and corrects work; and directs work at the job site. Prepares various reports, inspects completed projects and communicates with the Superintendent and Director concerning operation of the plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited high school, GED equivalent or vocation school.
- Four years experience in the field of wastewater treatment (preferably conventional activated sludge plant) or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary for the safe conduct of work and equipment operation.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to wastewater treatment.
- Ability to plan, layout work and supervise a group of subordinates to obtain effective results and meet established schedules.
- Ability to maintain required operating records and prepare reports.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and to work from sketches and plans.
- Ability to make decisions recognizing established precedent and practices and to use resourcefulness and tact in meeting new problems.
- Possession of valid Oklahoma Operator's license and possession of or the ability to obtain a Class "A" Oklahoma Commercial driver’s license within 6 months of date of hire.
- Required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse prior to employment and grant the City of Lawton permission to perform a “Full Query” concerning your CDL.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a Class “B” Wastewater Certification and a Class “C” Lab certification from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within one year of date of hire.

Provides first full supervisory level; assigns and evaluates the work of plant mechanic staff; interviews and recommends selection of employees for hire and promotion.
The employee works under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent who makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines; and assists the employee with unusual situations which do not have clear precedents. The employee plans, carries out successive steps, and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies and accepted practice. Work is reviewed for technical conformance and consistence with practice and policy.
This position is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the US DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws.
