Eric Carter

Chief Carter began his career as a Police Officer with the Lawton Police Department in August of 2005.  Chief Carter was assigned to the Patrol Division for five years.  In February of 2011, Chief Carter was assigned to the Special Operations sections as a Detective.  In June of 2013, Chief Carter transferred to the Criminal Investigative Division as a Person’s Crimes Detective.  Chief Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division in July of 2015.  In March of 2017, Chief Carter was assigned as the Lieutenant of the Special Operations section.  In July of 2017,Chief Carter was assigned as the Person’s Crimes Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division.  Chief Carter was promoted to the rank of Captain in July of 2019 and in May of 2022 he was promoted to Assistant Chief.

Chief Carter is a CLEET certified Firearms Instructor for the Lawton Police Department. Chief Carter has served on the Lawton Police Department’s Dive Team since 2007 as a diver and the team’s supervisor. Chief Carter has served on the Lawton Police Department’s Tactical Team since 2008 as an entry team member, sniper, team leader and executive officer. Chief Carter is a graduate of the 283rd session of the FBI National Academy.
