Fifth annual event that is among the largest free fireworks displays in Oklahoma, choreographed to music!  The goal of the festival is to bring the community together in a day of celebration for America’s independence. Be sure to follow updates here at lawtonok.gov and through Facebook at the “Lawton Fort Sill Freedom Festival” page. Event is sponsored by the Lawton Fort Sill Freedom Festival Committee, Keith Jackson, Chair. Hosted by the City of Lawton with partnerships from numerous businesses and individuals.   

 

2019 LAWTON FORT SILL FREEDOM FESTIVAL

Saturday, June 29 from 10am – 10pm

Celebrate our country’s Independence on Saturday, June 29 at the Lawton Fort Sill Freedom Festival in Lawton’s Elmer Thomas Park. The festival, with free admission and no parking fees, is a project of the Freedom Festival Committee chaired by City of Lawton Councilman Keith Jackson, City of Lawton staff and community volunteers. Festival opens at 10am and closes with one of the largest fireworks displays in Oklahoma, choreographed to music!

The festival’s amenities include:

  • Children’s Playground with shade covers
  • Food, Drinks, Sales and Activity Vendors
  • Picnic tables
  • Self directed recreation and leisure activities (kite flying, games, reading & etc)
  • Restroom facilities

Road Closures & Safety

  • Walking Track – For public safety, due to event vehicles and fireworks, a portion of lake’s walking track/trail will be closed from 11:00 am, Saturday, June 29 until 8:00 am Sunday, June 30. The patrons of the park’s walking track are invited to stroll thru the festival grounds
  • Road Closures - Saturday, June 29, 8am to approximately 11pm, there will be various road closures around the Elmer Thomas Park Area.

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs, umbrellas/sunscreen, insect repellant, flashlights and picnic baskets. Please no pets, service animals only, and no personal fireworks, alcohol or drones.  Pop up tents are allowed but must be taken down by 8:00pm. 

 

Schedule of events (subject to change):

10:00am - 2:00pm: Sweet Tempationz Car Show & Wind River Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Show (Car show registration 8:00-10:am)

10:00am - 10:00pm: Food, Drinks, Sales and Activity Vendors including face painting, bounce houses, and more! Note: Some vendors may choose to open later in the day.

10:00am - 6:00pm: Splash Pad

12:00 noon - After fireworks: Park & Ride! Shuttle service from McMahon Memorial Auditorium and Lawton High School

 

Amphitheatre Stage

4:30pm – 5:30pm: BLUEPRINT Blues Built to Last!

7:00pm – 9:00pm: The 77th US Army Band, Pride of Fort Sill

9:00pm – 9:30pm: Ceremony with Welcome & Remarks

 

Fireworks Displays Choreographed to Music - Approximately 9:30pm

One of the largest fireworks displays in Oklahoma set to music! Tune into the live broadcast on MAGIC 95, 95.3FM. Also listen via Magic 95's website, www.magic953.com and through their Apple and Android app.

 

Volunteering at the festival is a great way to meet new people in the community, get work experience for your resume, gain visibility for your organization or business, family or group activity, and just have FUN!!
