COVID-19 VACCINATION:  Effective August 12, 2021, all applicants hired by the City of Lawton will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  If the applicant is not fully vaccinated prior to their hiring date, the employee will have ninety (90) days to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  If the employee fails to become fully vaccinated within the ninety (90) days, it shall be grounds for termination.  Proof of vaccination will be required and a copy placed in the employees medical file.

Deputy Director, Emergency Communications - 3374

The challenges, issues, and responsibilities facing Emergency Communications require committed, professional leadership. The ideal candidate will have a combination of leadership and management experience, an understanding of police, fire, and emergency medical service operations, and knowledge of information systems technologies. Responsible for coordinating, directing, evaluating, and supervising the work of the emergency communications center’s employees engaged in public safety dispatching and call-taking. The Deputy Director is an executive management level employee who must be able to accommodate the scheduling demands of leading and managing in a 24/7 environment, including responding to Emergency Communications during emergencies. The Deputy Director must be available on an emergency basis 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, unless on pre-approved time off. During an emergency, may be required to work 24-hour operations. Shares on-call responsibilities with the Shift Supervisors and may be required to work weekends. Works independently and without the need for day-to-day supervision. Attends and actively participates in meetings and assigned training programs. The Shift Supervisors and Training Coordinator report directly to the Deputy Director. This position reports directly to the Director. The Deputy Director regularly works in an office environment, while performing the duties of this position.
