2023 National Service Day - Mobile Meals
AmeriCorps Senior volunteers will gather healthy snacks and assemble spring baskets to deliver to Mobile Meals program recipients. These items will aide seniors who in local community who are considered "shut-ins" and are unable to obtain nutritious well-balanced meals on a regular basis without program assistance.

2023 MLK Day Service Act - Back 2 School Refresher
Give back to a classroom in need... halfway through the school year, supplies are low, used, and/or broken. Replenishing items helps students focus on their studies and not the items they lack. 2022 September 11th Service Act - LFD/LPD Domestic Violence Care Items
Though 9/11 is nationally recognized as a day of doing good and honoring the spirit of unity that arose in America after September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the AmeriCorps Senior Program will be doing good for an entire month. Volunteers are collecting blankets and stuffed animals for children of domestic violence and community members displaced by home fires. Donations will go to the Lawton Police and Fire Departments to give out wile on duty.

2022 National Service Day @ Lawton Food bank
AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers collected nonperishable food items to donated to the Lawton Food Bank (located on Sheridan) and assisted during nonoperational hours packaging 75 Senior boxes and over 200 additional supplemental items for distribution. The Lawton Food Bank offers drive thru services and utilizes volunteer support to prepare packages.

2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Service Act - Donations for Rescues
For the MLK 2022 Day of Service Project, RSVP will collect donations for rescue animals to benefit the Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County and Lawton Animal Welfare. These two organizations work in partnership with local foster families, businesses, and organizations to accomplish their rescue missions. Their primary focus is to eliminate the needless euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in Lawton and Comanche County.
Donations will be accepted at the RSVP office from January 1st through the 31st. More information is available on our Facebook page.

2021 September 11th Service Act - Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center
Due to the pandemic residents at the Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center have not been able to have family and friends visit them as often. Volunteers have taken a collection of personal care items that would normally be provided by loved ones during these visits. Donations will be used to restock the LFSVC clothing closet and is free and accessible to all residents.

2021 National Service Recognition Day - St. John's Feeding Missionary Baptist Church Feeding Ministry
For the 2021 National Service Recognition Day Service Project, RSVP volunteers assisted with the distribution of carry out meals to the patrons of St. Johns Feeding Ministry. Over 125 hot meals were distributed along with hygiene kits, and prepackaged disposable & reusable masks . Volunteers were also present for the issuance of a Proclamation from Mayor Stan Booker claiming April 6th as National Service Recognition Day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered!

2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Service Act - Encouragement Cards
For the 2021 MLK Day of Service Project, RSVP volunteers signed "encouragement cards" and delivered bouquets of them to seniors residing in assisted living and nursing home facilities throughout the city. Due to their isolation during this time of the pandemic, the cards offer notes of encouragement to brighten their day! Thank you to everyone who volunteered!

2020 September 11th National Service Remembrance Day Service Act - Children's Book Drive
RSVP collected over 200 books for our September 11th Service Act and donated them to Pat Henry Elementary School. Teachers distributed the books amongst students who will no doubt enjoy the many stories and tales!

2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Service Act - C. Carter Crane
During the pandemic the transient community needed increased precautions and protection from the Coronavirus. AmeriCorps Senior volunteers provided personal care hygiene items and PPE equipment for C. Carter Crane to pass out to the local homeless population.

2019 September 11th Service Act - BirthRight Infant Layettes
New and growing families seek consultation and support from Lawton BirthRight. Volunteers at this organization offer one on one consultation, pregnancy testing, supplemental food, and new/used children's clothing for those in need. AmeriCorps Senior Program collected donations for the beneficiary such as baby food, formula, cereal, clothing, blankets, and diapers.

2019 National Service Day - USO of Oklahoma
AmeriCorps Senior volunteers gathered at the USO on Fort Sill to serve the active duty soldiers, families, and veterans lunch. Every Wednesday @ 1130 the USO provides a hot meal and camaraderie called "Fueling the Forces" to say thank you to the military community.
