Lieutenant Charles Whittington has been employed with the Lawton Police Department since January of 2004.
Whittington previously worked as a patrolman for City of Lawton Police Department until 2008. Whittington was transferred to the Community Oriented Policing Division. The duties of this division included patrol functions, setting up and attending neighborhood watch programs in the community and organizing public city functions for the department.
Whittington remained in C.O.P. until 2010 when he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division. While in this division Whittington specialized in persons and child crime investigations. Whittington has attended 600 hours of education involving crimes against women and children. Whittington has attended 120 hour course for forensic interviewing of children and has been certified as an expert witness in that field. Whittington holds his advance instructor certification with CLEET and is a FBI crisis negotiator for the department.
In 2016 Whittington was transferred to the Headquarters Division of the Lawton Police Department where he serves in the Crime Stoppers and Internal investigations Division until his promotion to Lieutenant in February 2019.
