Danny Smith

Lt. Smith began his career as a Police Officer with the Lawton Police Department in March of 2014. He was assigned to Adam Team and Echo Team where he served as an all zone unit and a Field Training Officer. In March of 2019 Lt. Smith was accepted to the Training Division where he served as the Academy Coordinator. Lt. Smith was responsible for the daily classroom training, physical training and accountability of the cadets while attending the Lawton Police Academy. In November of 2021 Lt. Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and is currently assigned to Bravo Team.  

Lt. Smith is a Firearms Instructor, a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Sniper Section Leader for the department's SWAT Team and a member of the Honor Guard. He has previously served as a member of the Bike Team and the Meritorious Awards Board Committee. Lt. Smith holds a Bachelors Degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Grand Canyon University and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate through CLEET and was selected as the 2021 Non-Uniform Officer of the Year.
