Centerpoint donates technology to City

City of Lawton leadership continue to advance a mission of digital transformation for the City with, most recently, a technology donation from CenterPoint Energy.

The donation, valued at more than $20,000, includes 220 ruggedized laptops and 144 swivel mounts, which were delivered to City Information Technology staff last week. Lawton City Council accepted the donation on March 12; the company will be honored with a proclamation of appreciation from Mayor Stanley Booker on March 26.

“Our team is grateful for the partnership, support and generous donation from CenterPoint Energy,” said Community Relations Director Tiffany Martinez Vrska, who worked on the City’s behalf to coordinate the donation. “These types of community-minded initiatives by area businesses set Lawton apart.”

The laptops will be used by various divisions within the City for field work duties, off-site training, community outreach and mobile resources for public service. The Lawton Police Department will receive nearly half of the laptops for patrol purposes. Funding for needed software and installation will be identified by department moving forward.

“CenterPoint appreciates the opportunity to assist those who serve and protect our community through this donation,” said Cody Dupler, Senior Marketing Consultant for CenterPoint Energy. “We are Lawton Proud and look forward to the digital advancements that the City of Lawton is working toward.”

CenterPoint Energy is located in Downtown Lawton. Its primary businesses include electric transmission and distribution, natural gas distribution, and natural gas sales and services.
