COL observation of New Years Day

City of Lawton sites and facilities will be closed to observe New Year’s Day on Monday, January 1, 2018.

No trash collection will occur this day. Emergency and essential services – such as that of Police and Fire – will be available, as always, to citizens.

Regular hours for the City of Lawton will resume Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Special hours surrounding this holiday include that of the Lawton Public Library. Please note: The main library, 110 SW Fourth Street, will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 30 (and be closed Monday, January 1); the Kathleen Wyatt Nicholson Branch Library, 1304 NW Kingswood Road, will be closed from Thursday, December 21 to Saturday, December 30, and then reopen with regular operational hours on Tuesday, January 2.

Citizens are also reminded during this time that firework possession and discharge is prohibited in Lawton city limits, to include Lake Lawtonka and Lake Ellsworth, by Lawton City Code, Chapter 11: Fire Prevention.
