The Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority (LETA) has been working to beautify and enhance the appearance of Lawton for the last 15 years. The latest opportunity to further this mission is through the reconstruction and renovation of Shepler Park.
In July 2022, Lawton City Council approved the conceptual designs commissioned by LETA. Kimley-Horn and Associates prepared the designs to reconstruct Shepler Park into an outdoor event venue.
The original designs were approved in 2017 and included the Farmers Market. The designs also include the addition of sidewalks and handicap accessibility to create easier access for events.
The newly renovated park will provide a landscape playground, activity area, water feature/stage, a plaza with a larger stage, shade sails, parking for food trucks, an art garden, a reading nook, and more.
Plus, the addition of a new water drainage system featuring grass that retains more water to prevent flooding.
The estimated cost of this project is $1.9 million and will be funded through private donations, grants, and business contributions.
Fundraising for Shepler Park can now be done through the QR code located on a “Coming Soon” sign in the park.
