Flags at half-staff in memory of former chief

The City of Lawton will fly its flags at half-staff as we lend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of former Lawton Police Chief Ronnie Smith, Sr., who passed away on Saturday evening. Smith served on the LPD for 37 years, with the last seven in the role of police chief, before retiring in 2012. We honor him for his many years of service and dedication to our community; his legacy lives on through those who had the opportunity to work alongside him.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ronnie Smith, Sr., at this time," said Lawton Mayor Fred Fitch. "We wish them peace and comfort as they go through this difficult time."
