January declared as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Lawton

Mayor Fitch declared January "Human Trafficking Awareness Month" throughout the City of Lawton.

Citizen Cindy Evans accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Red Cord, an organization dedicated to united Southwest Oklahoma in the fight against human trafficking.

"In January especially, the Red Cord is involved in flooding Southwest Oklahoma with awareness," Evans said. "We believe that this will bring prevention as well as rescue."
