New hours start on March 20th at Lawton City Hall

Beginning March 20, 2023, Lawton City Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

During Tuesday’s City Council Meeting, Councilmembers adopted an ordinance to modify the City Code to remove the standard 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. working hours for employees.

The City Manager will allow employees to modify work schedules to work four ten hour days. However, each department at Lawton City Hall will always be staffed Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For example, in each department, half of employees would work Monday through Thursday while the other half works Tuesday through Friday.

Not only does this give citizens an opportunity to do business at City Hall outside of the normal working hours, but it is also an extra benefit to employees, giving them an extra day off during the week.

This change will go into effect on a trial basis for 180 days on Monday, March 20.
