Veterans Day is November 11, and to celebrate, Mayor Stan Booker issued a proclamation to the veterans of Lawton during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. George K. Keck, Chair of the Comanche County Veterans Council and Sr. Vice-Commander of VFW Post #5263, accepted the proclamation.

The proclamation states that America’s veterans have fought to defend our country, its values, and its interests since the first days of our founding. Their courage and fortitude in the face of adversity serve as an example for all Americans.

To recognize and respect the contributions our veterans have made in defense of America, Congress has stated that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to recognize America’s veterans.

On Veterans Day, we pause to pay tribute to all who have proudly worn our Nation’s uniform.

Thank you to our veterans who have served faithfully, humbly, and valiantly in times of war and peace.
