Redistricting Public Hearing Rescheduled
The Lawton Redistricting Commission has canceled the public hearing that was scheduled for 2 p.m. today (1/12/2022) due to the agenda not being posted and accessible to the public within 48 hours of the meeting, according to the Oklahoma Open Records Act. The public hearing has been rescheduled to 2 p.m. Friday (1/14/2022) in the City Hall Auditorium.
The City of Lawton continues to be impacted by COVID-19, which resulted in multiple staff members from the City of Lawton’s Planning Department to be absent from work causing the issue with the agenda posting.
The purpose of the public hearing is for citizens to give input on the proposed ward redistricting map for the City of Lawton that the commission voted on during a meeting that took place Dec. 16. CLICK HERE to view the proposed redistricting map.
The public hearing will be an opportunity for the commission to receive public comments from Lawton citizens regarding the proposed redistricting map.
