3D Printing Class

3D Printing is Here!
As part of a McMahon Foundation Grant provided to the library, two Lulzbot TAZ 6 3D printers have been purchased for public use. The Lawton Public Library will be hosting a 3D printing class to introduce the basics of 3D printing at the library.
Individuals will learn about the library’s policies regarding 3D printing; discover and download 3D projects from the internet; prepare a project for printing using Cura; and place an order for a 3D print. Staff will share their ideas and complete the 3D printing projects. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on experience with Cura at the end of the class and hopefully be inspired to create projects of their own.
The class will be held on Saturday, May 20, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in meeting room 2 at the Library, 110 SW 4th Street. Ages 12 and up are welcome to attend.
In addition to the two 3D printers, the McMahon Foundation Grant also provided 20 new computers with software for both the library’s computer lab and Professional Development Center. A network upgrade which provides increased internet speed and additional wifi access points throughout the library was also acquired.
