MTZ Construction has started work on an ADA compliant sidewalk on NW 53rd Street from W. Gore Blvd. to NW Cache Rd.

The contractor began work on September 29th and is expected to complete the project in 120 days, weather permitting. The contractor will be closing the lane closest to the sidewalk as they progress down 53rd Street, but the road will still open to thru traffic.

As for the pedestrian bridges on the east and west sides of 53rd, those will be widened to four feet.

The east side of 53rd will have a new sidewalk installed from Fire Station No. 5 to Chimney Creek Dr.  past the pedestrian bridge.

The new sidewalk on the west side of 53rd will start from the pedestrian bridge to Cache Rd.

This project is paid for through Medical Marijuana sales tax and is estimated to cost $326,000.

Drivers are asked to slow down in this area and obey the posted signage.
