At Tuesday’s City Council Meeting, Glen Gatling, Arthur Thomas, and their team accepted a proclamation deeming them the Citizen of the Month for their work with All About Understanding.

Gatling and Thomas created All About Understanding to bridge the gaps between traditional classroom settings and real-life situations.

Since 2020, All About Understanding has taught young people in the Lawton-Fort Sill community to better understand themselves, develop their life skills, and motivate them to be the best versions of themselves to succeed.

The Proclamation reads, “examples of the skills taught at All About Understanding include communicating effectively, social media etiquette, proper decision making, learning from mistakes, and building confidence. They are also exposed to various trades and taught the fundamentals of financial literacy and entrepreneurship.”

All About Understanding goes even further with the programs they provide throughout the year that teach various life skills. The team also holds a monthly community service event to clean their adopted street.

Three times a week, they provide a transition program for teenage boys in the group home. They mentor young men who have made mistakes that have led to legal consequences by teaching them the lessons that All About Understanding embodies.

Thank you to everyone who is involved in this nonprofit that does so much for our community. You have gone above and beyond & have rightfully earned the title of Citizen of the Month.
