City hosts Leadership Lawton
The City of Lawton hosted Leadership Lawton Fort Sill (LLFS), Class of 2018, for "City Government and the Arts Day" on Feb. 8, 2018.
The day's events, coordinated by the Community Relations Office, served to educate and enlighten students about City structure and operations. After sitting in on the morning docket at Municipal Court, the class toured the Medicine Park Treatment Plant, had lunch at Central Fire Station, then visited Lawton Arts & Humanities and witnessed a K9 demonstration from the Lawton Police Department. The class also had an opportunity to meet Mayor Fred Fitch and City Manager Jerry Ihler for a question-and-answer session.
City leadership has a longstanding partnership with the LLFS program, which seeks to prepare, involve and sustain leaders from diverse backgrounds who are committed and competent to address community challenges in the Lawton and Comanche County area. Annually, the Junior LLFS class collaborates with the City for Government Day in the fall, while the adult class takes part in the winter.
City staff and LLFS board members work in coordination to carry out a mission of the City of Lawton: To create leadership and opportunity for Southwest Oklahoma!
