City of Lawton prepares for 122nd Birthday Celebration

The City of Lawton invites the community to the McMahon Memorial Auditorium on August 3, 2023 to celebrate Lawton’s 122nd Birthday.
The event will start at 5:30 P.M. with a reception in the lobby with light refreshments and a cake cutting ceremony. The cake cutting will be done by the Oldest Lawtonian who was born and is still living in Lawton. The refreshments will be served while they last.
At 6:00 P.M., the Auditorium doors will open to an entertaining historical presentation focused on the history of our community featuring the Stringsmen (a four-person string quartet) and local performers, orchestrated by the City of Lawton Arts and Humanities Department There will be presentations over our Indigenous history, Fort Sill, Cameron University, Carnegie Library, National Guard Armory, and many more.
At 7:00 P.M., Mayor Stan Booker will present awards for Outstanding Citizen, Outstanding Organization, and Lawton award in Excellence. The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women will also have awards to present.
Proclamations will be presented to the Pioneer Women and Lawton Rangers promoting Pioneer Days and the Lawton Ranger’s Rodeo.
The event will conclude at 8:00 P.M.
