Published October 3, 2022

The City of Lawton’s Emergency Communications Department is proud to announce that two of their telecommunicators were recently awarded the “Civilian Medal of Appreciation” from the American Police Hall of Fame.

Telecommunicators Kristina Rorrer & Katrina Stearns were presented the award by Chief Jason Delonais of the Fletcher Police Department. Chief Delonais submitted the two telecommunicators for the award based off an active shooter incident that occurred in February of 2022. Chief Delonais stated that it was the hard work that the telecommunicators performed that helped bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

Most citizens do not realize that the City of Lawton’s Emergency Communications Department is a consolidated city/county dispatch center that is run by the City of Lawton and serves over 30 police and fire agencies.

It is a true testament to the hard work and professionalism that our telecommunicators provide to Comanche County to have a partnering agency submit an award of this caliber.

Congratulations, ladies!
