Community Chili/Dessert Cook-Off Set for November 17

The City of Lawton and the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma will host the 3rd Annual Community Chili & Dessert Cook-Off from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on November 17th in the Banquet Room of Lawton City Hall.
The event will consist, collectively, of more than 30 chilis and desserts submitted by community members.
All proceeds, to include entry fees, will go to the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma – a local nonprofit that provides funding for 20 partner agencies throughout the Lawton community. In 2022, 76,959 Southwest Oklahomans were positively impacted through the United Way’s funded partners and collaborative initiatives.
“We are incredibly excited to bring this community event back to benefit the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma,” said Caitlin Gatlin, City of Lawton Communications & Marketing Manager & Campaign Coordinator. “Let’s bring some spice back to our fundraising efforts! We encourage every cook & baker to sign up and bring their best dish for a great cause.”
Thirty contestants will be accepted to participate. There is a $10 entry fee per item entered. All forms of payment will be accepted & can be made online or upon arrival at the contest. The deadline to register for the cook off is November 10th.
There will be two winners in each category – a Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice – and prizes will be provided for all winners.
The first 30 citizens to pay the $5 entry fee will be considered the judges for the People’s Choice category, but all citizens are welcome to come grab a bowl of chili or a plate of dessert for $5.
