The Salvation Army is a nonprofit organization that focuses on human services by assisting those in need with the motto of “doing the most good.”

Major Raymond Pruitt and his wife, Major Crystal Pruitt, are passionate about running The Salvation Army.

“It’s just a wonderful thing to be a part of, making a difference,” Raymond Pruitt said. “When you see a problem, you have two choices, make a difference or leave it the same.”

Here in Lawton, the Salvation Army consists of the shelter, the boys and girls club, and the thrift store.

One way the shelter assists the community is by feeding the hungry. They provide breakfast and dinner daily and have food boxes available.

During the holidays, the Salvation Army is the most visible to the community. But their work is never really done.

“We’re active year-round,” Raymond Pruitt said. “There is always something going on. We’re more visible around the holidays with the bell ringing and the angel tree, but we’re active all year.”
