Construction underway on Highland Cemetery Arch

Construction on the Highland Cemetery Arch is officially underway.

Masons with Old Home Rescue have set up the job site with the construction fencing, a storage container & dumpster. They are currently removing mortar for the columns and replacing it with new mortar through a process called repointing. Lawton City Council approved Old Home Rescue’s $140,000 proposal to repair the arch on October 11, 2022.

Next week, the crew will begin the removal of the horizontal structure across the top of the arch.

Work on the Highland Cemetery Arch is expected to be completed within approximately 90 days weather permitting.
