Fall 2020 Sports - Information
After much consideration to the risks and factors involved in coordinating Fall 2020 Sports during the ongoing COVID-19 health pandemic, the decision has been made to cancel the season for City-coordinated sports. The health and safety of the Lawton community remains the topmost priority.
Affected sports include softball, baseball, football, volleyball and basketball.
Follow lawtonok.gov, teamsideline.com/lawton and the traditional Press for information concerning Spring 2021 sports managed by the City of Lawton.
*This does not affect LPS sports. Please visit Lawtonps.org for information on district activities.*
The Parks and Recreation Department has received a number of inquiries regarding the status of City of Lawton Fall 2020 Sports. Staff is currently working alongside the Parks & Recreation Commission and City Management to explore options and assess all factors concerning falls sports, to include football, softball and volleyball. Community safety remains a topmost priority for both the commission and City of Lawton officials.
At this time, no decisions have yet been made. Registration for these sports typically coincides with the start of school in mid-August. The community will be kept aware of additional information on this situation as decisions are made. Citizens should monitor lawtonok.gov, teamsideline.com/lawton, the traditional Press and the City of Lawton social media pages for such information.
