Lawton AmeriCorps Senior Program volunteers seek donations

Published September 6, 2022:

Volunteers with Lawton’s AmeriCorps Senior Program have kicked off their September 11th Service Act Donation Drive.

Though 9/11 Day is nationally recognized as a day of doing good and honoring the spirit of unity that arose in America after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the AmeriCorps Senior Program will be doing good for an entire month.

They are collecting blankets and stuffed animals for children of domestic violence and children displaced by home fires. Donations will go to the Lawton Fire Department and Lawton Police Department to give to children they come across while on duty.

Community members can bring donations to the Owens Multipurpose Center at 1405 SW 11th Street during business hours. To coordinate donation drop-offs, you’re encouraged to contact Jessica Musselman at (580) 581-3408.

Donations will be accepted until September 30th.
