Lawton Public Safety Center earns awards, national recognition

The City of Lawton's Public Safety Center located at 100 SW Railroad Street is being nationally recognized & awarded for its beautiful design.

Thursday afternoon, representatives with Dewberry Architects visited the facility they designed to present two awards to Lawton Police Chief James Smith & Lawton Fire Chief Jared Williams.

One award comes from Firehouse Magazine & their Station Design Awards. The judges were unanimous in their decision to award the Public Safety Center. The second award is from the Association of Licensed Architects. Out of 84 projects submitted only four received Gold, one of those being Public Safety Center.

The groundbreaking for the facility took place in October 2017, with the ribbon cutting signaling its final completion in March 2021.

"We wanted to build for our future generation of police officers & firefighters," said Lawton Police Chief James Smith. We'd like to thank the citizens for believing in us and giving us resources to do this."
