During Tuesday's City Council meeting, Mayor Stan Booker presented Jerry Nottingham with a proclamation naming him the Citizen of the Month for March 2023.
The proclamation acknowledges Nottingham's 27 years of service as the Race Director for road races that serve as fundraisers for nonprofit organizations. Despite his significant contribution, Nottingham does not receive any compensation for his time and effort as an event coordinator. He is driven by his passion to give back to the Lawton Fort Sill Community.
Nottingham's involvement in organizing races dates back to 1996, starting with the "Firecracker Run" and ten years of work with "Run For Hope." This year marks his 16th year of organizing the "Jingle Jog," which typically features a 5k Run and a 1 Mile Walk, making it an inclusive event for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Additionally, Nottingham has organized the "Kyle Nottingham Kiddie K" for the last 20 years in honor of his late son Kyle.
As a race coordinator, Nottingham's responsibilities include planning, programming, coordinating, and supervising various aspects of directing a road race event.
Thank you for all you have done for this community, Mr. Nottingham!
