The City of Lawton, in collaboration with Cameron University and community partners, will host the “Mayor’s Panel Discussion on Crime and Community” from 1-3 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the City Hall Auditorium, 212 SW Ninth Street. This program is free and open to the public.

The panel discussion will feature Dr. Christopher Hill of the University of Oklahoma; Dr. Mary Dzindolet and Rick Lowe of Cameron University; Nisha Wilson of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services; and Chief James Smith of the Lawton Police Department. Data and information concerning crime rate and research, in relation to the Lawton Fort Sill area, will be shared and analyzed during this event.

“We hope to gain better insight and understanding into the types of crime occurring in our community,” said Mayor Stan Booker. “It is only with education and collaborative efforts that we, as a community, can work toward solutions together."

A question-and-answer session will follow individual presentations from guests and the panel discussion. Lowe will serve as both a participating panelist and the lead moderator.
