REMINDER: Effective June 5, new security precautions will be implemented at City Hall to ensure a safer environment for all citizens and employees within the facility.
Upon entering City Hall, a walk-through metal detector will be installed at the main entrance to identify any potential weapons that may be brought in.
To complement these physical security measures, security cameras have already been installed and will monitor activities within the facility. This will provide an extra layer of safety and deterrence.
Individuals carrying dangerous items, including firearms and knives, will be asked to return the items to their vehicle before entering the facility. Please note that these items will NOT be confiscated.
It is important to be aware that carrying firearms into certain places, including City Hall, is prohibited under ยง21-1277v2 of the Oklahoma Statutes - Title 21. Crimes and Punishments. This law restricts the possession of concealed or unconcealed handguns in any structure, building, or office space owned or leased by a city, town, county, state, or federal governmental authority for the purpose of conducting business with the public.
By adhering to these new security precautions, we can collectively create a safer and more secure environment at City Hall. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work towards ensuring the well-being of everyone within the facility.
Thank you for your attention, and please remember these changes will be effective starting June 5, 2023.
