Published 1/23/2021

LAWTON –The Parks Master Plan website for the City of Lawton – – has launched, giving citizens a new platform to view information concerning the Parks Master Plan initiative, to sign up for alerts regarding upcoming engagements, and to help shape the future of all things Parks and Recreation in the Lawton Fort Sill community.

The process of developing a City of Lawton Parks Master Plan is expected to take one year and will focus on "assessing existing conditions and identifying future needs for parks, sports & recreation, trails, and open space in the community."

“This website will be the perfect landing page for citizens to stay up to date on the City’s Parks Master Plan,” said Tiffany Martinez Vrska, City of Lawton Community Relations Director. “We encourage all Lawtonians to sign up to receive project updates and to take part in our upcoming public events.”

Vrska said the finalized Parks Master Plan will offer insight and data into community priorities. The first step in gauging such priorities will be the mailing of a Parks and Recreation Assessment Survey. This survey will be mailed at random throughout the next several weeks, with instructions enclosed, to households within the Lawton community.

The first public event planned in the Parks Master Plan process is a virtual Visioning Meeting that will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 via ZOOM. The virtual public meeting will feature a panel to offer an overview on the Parks Master Plan and then an opportunity for public input. Those interested in attending can pre-register on the parks master plan website,
