The City of Lawton is making all efforts to remain open to the public despite a widespread power outage.
Lawton City Hall is expected to be without power for the remainder of the workday, but a generator is powering most forward-facing departments. Citizens can still come in to make payments at Utility Services. Anyone needing a license or permit from the Building Division can still do so, but business will have to be done manually.
The Public Safety Center is also without power, with some areas running on a generator to include Municipal Court. Payments made to the court can still be made and court cases are still being heard.
Traffic control signals are also down because of the power outage. We ask drivers to treat all intersections usually controlled by a traffic signal as a four-way stop.
The Lawton Public Library will be closed to remainder of the day, along with the Owens Center and the Patterson Center. The HC King Center has power and will remain open to the public.
Police, fire, and dispatch services are still operational.
