Progress on the HC King Community Center

HC King Center

Published September 22, 2022

The Lawton Parks & Recreation Department is working to make the HC King Community Center more accessible to everybody. They’re doing that through the installation of brand-new sidewalks around the facility.

The HC King Center is home to many community programs like Zumba, Get Fit Seniors, line dancing, and dominos.

The parking lot has already been upgraded on the west side of the property, and there are more improvements to come. These include making the sidewalks wide enough for wheelchair use and installing new wheelchair ramps.

Along with the parking lot and sidewalk improvements, the LATS bus stop will now have a concrete area for passengers.

This project is funded through medical marijuana sales tax and is estimated to cost around $75,000.
