Raanon Adams selected as Fire Chief
16 September 2019
Raanon Adams has been selected as 17th Fire Chief for the City of Lawton Fire Department, effective September 23, 2019. Adams, who has served as Deputy Fire Chief since 2013, assumes the position after more than two decades of service to the Lawton community.
“I intend to continue building on the vision of my predecessors in an effort to ensure the Lawton Fire Department provides the highest levels of service to the citizens of the Lawton Fort Sill area and the State of Oklahoma,” Adams said.
Adams is a graduate of Cameron University and Oklahoma State University, where he studied health & physical education and fire protection technology, respectively. His areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, leadership development, incident command and response, policy and budget creation, and labor relations and collective bargaining. As Fire Chief, Adams will be responsible for a department of nearly 150 personnel. He was selected by a panel consisting of the City Manager, Lawton Police Chief and a retired fire chief from the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
“Chief Adams clearly demonstrates the qualities and abilities to successfully lead the Lawton Fire Department into the future,” said City Manager Michael Cleghorn. “We are fortunate to have such an experienced and dedicated individual taking on this position of leadership for our city.”
An oath of office and promotional pinning ceremony will be planned for Adams in the near future.
