Trash Collection & Bulk Collection: Information for Residents

Residents can expect later than normal trash collection times for the next several weeks, as challenges are faced in Solid Waste Collection equipment repair and replacement. Aged equipment, coupled with delays in ordering given parts or items during the ongoing health pandemic, have caused unexpected setbacks for Public Works staff. New trucks are expected to arrive in November but residents are advised to keep carts at the curb until serviced on assigned pickup days. In some cases collection may be completed the next business day; residents may leave carts out overnight in such cases.

To continue providing essential service to the public, the City of Lawton is working to ensure equipment repairs are carried out as quickly as possible (both in-house and through outside vendors, as needed), new refuse trucks are being ordered, and leadership is looking at ways to generate more revenue for more frequent equipment/vehicle replacement.

Until new equipment is received, bulk trash collection pickups have been temporarily paused. Pickups already scheduled through City staff will be honored. Residents are still welcome to drop off bulky items at the City of Lawton Landfill, 8902 SW 11th Street. Learn more at
