During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the board members of the Comanche Academy Charter School Parent-Teacher Association accepted a proclamation presented by Mayor Stan Booker recognizing April 1 through April 7, 2023, as The Week of the Young Child.
The Week of the Young Child is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) on a national level. The event highlights the importance of early childhood education.
Before accepting the proclamation, the PTA brought children from their school who recited the Pledge of Allegiance in their Comanche language.
The proclamation commends the Comanche Academy Charter School for working to promote and inspire high-quality early childhood experiences that can provide a foundation for learning for our youngest citizens in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Comanche Academy Charter School is nearing its second anniversary and states the importance of teaching the children their culture and language at a young age. They recognize that our children are our future.
Thank you to the Comanche Academy for teaching our children the importance of who they are and helping to nurture their futures. They will host a bubble run on Saturday, April 1, at Fort Sill Indian School to celebrate the beginning of the Week of the Young Child.
