Black Heritage Month

Join us in recognizing and honoring contributions made by African-Americans.

Black Heritage Month recognizes and honors the significant contributions made by African Americans in the progress of our great country and state, even before statehood. African Americans continue to enrich the lives of all by sharing their heritage, legacies and leadership which deepens our understanding of our Nation’s history.

Area leaders, dignitaries and community gather to honor Black Heritage Month with a ceremony, proclamation signing and reception. Each year the event is hosted by different organizations in the community.

For more information about the event, contact the Arts & Humanities Division, 580-581-3470 or 581-3471.
