Fireworks Safety Tips 2020

As Independence Day approaches, the City of Lawton would like to kindly remind citizens that fireworks discharge is prohibited in Lawton city limits and on all Lawton properties, to include Lake Lawtonka and Lake Ellsworth, in accordance with Lawton City Code Chapter 11: Fire Prevention. Not only can the discharge of fireworks within the City result in a citation and fine, it can also result in the confiscation of all unused fireworks as well. However, if you choose to participate in the discharge of fireworks outside the City in areas where you have permission, please do so in as safe a manner as possible and be and courteous and cognizant of the safety of others in the area. For more fireworks safety information see the attached PDF.

The prohibition of fireworks within the City does not apply to any professional fireworks displays that have been approved to take place by the City of Lawton.
