Assembly Permit Procedure for an Event held on City Property
How to apply for an assembly permit to have an event held on City property or the street areas.
Assembly Permit Procedure for an Event held on City Property, i.e., at a City Park, Festival, Walk/Run, Parade and/or Street Fair
If wanting to hold a specific event on City Property to include all City parks and special tournaments and events at the ball parks, outside of City Buildings, and/or a Street area you must first obtain an assembly permit at the Parks and Recreation Department, 1405 SW 11th Street in Lawton at the Owens Multipurpose Center. Come to the front desk and ask for Jeanie Wheeler, who will assist in the assembly permit procedure needed for your event. Examples of events may include festivals, walk/run competitions, parades or street fairs.
Note: When submitting an assembly permit for a park pavilion/area rental, submit the permit at a minimum of 30 days prior to the event as required by City policy. Also, fees will be applied to all events depending on activities cited and city services provided. A detailed site map is needed of your event to better assist you for your event. Some events at Elmer Thomas Park may or may not require a Restricted Access Standard Contract (which requires City Council approval, suggested a 60 day out submission if Council approval is needed) or a Non-Restricted Access Standard Contract; the type of contract will be determined by the Parks and Recreation Director. For safety and liability purposes all events required a Certificate of Liability Insurance for your event.
For further information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 580-581-3400 so your event can be given the attention needed to be a successful for you and/or your organization.
