Pre-Flood Assistance

Assistance designed to implement a sustained pre-disaster natural hazard mitigation program to reduce overall risk to the population and structures from future hazard events, while also reducing reliance on Federal funding in future disasters. Assistance can come in the form of FEMA mitigation grants, Sate or Local grants, Housing improvement assistance programs, US Department of Agriculture's rural development grants and loans for mitigation, reduction of flood insurance premiums for mitigation projects and exempting the improvements from property tax increases. Staff can provide information on floodproofing, flood protection including on-site visits, financial assistance and local contractor's information. The City can provide information and advise on flood insurance.
